Snipedales Country Park

This week, we visited Snipedales Country Park to develop our understanding of a river course. The foliage had grown a lot had we had to work hard to find the river but we were pleased that the theories of what we would find were still true! It was great to see muddy water emerging from the source and then being filtered down the river.

River features

Year 3 have been working hard today learning about the course of a river and it’s features. We have been using vocabulary such as tributary, estuary, meander and source, as well as looking at how the river changes along it’s  course. In pairs, the class produced a labelled diagram of a river and included all of this new vocabulary.

This week we had fun pretending that we were out on a river. The river was smooth so we were feeling calm and relaxed. Our arms got tired from rowing though!

We also pretended to climb to the top of a mountain. It was freezing at the top and we collapsed when we got there because climbing was so exhausting!

We thought about how we might feel at the top of a mountain and decided we would feel like we were flying as high as a bird!

Y3/4 trip to Snipesdale Country Park

Snipesdale

On Tuesday 8th September, Y3/4 are going on their trip to Snipesdale Country Park to help support our learning about rivers. We sent the information out last term so this is just to remind you!
We will be leaving at 9am and returning before the end of the usual school day. Children need to wear their school uniform – including sturdy shoes and a waterproof coat. Snacks, drinks and lunch boxes should be easy to carry and you will not need anything such as a book bag.

We also need some parent helpers for the trip – please see your child’s teacher or the office if you are able to help and have been cleared previously to do this.

Thanks
Team Y3/4
